10th Apollo International Clinical Nutrition Update was hosted in Chennai - a knowledge exchange platform for all the clinical nutritionists and dieticians around the world.

The 10th Apollo International Clinical Nutrition Update (AICNU) was hosted by Apollo Hospitals on the 4th and 5th August 2018 in Chennai. The department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics organized the annual conference as a knowledge exchange platform for all the clinical nutritionists and dieticians around the country. All latest and advanced developments and updates in the field of Clinical Nutrition were discussed during the conference. The 2-day international conference was inaugurated by Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, I.A.S., Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The theme of the conference was "Enhancing Clinical Nutrition Practice", around 700 delegates from across 12 countries have come together to share knowledge on best clinical practices to enhance the practical knowledge and strategies of the practitioners. This provided the forum to enrich the dietetic profession through dialogue, learning and to showcase the leading-edge practice and nutrition research.

The forum addressed all the aspects of patient care at hospitals, hospital-based nutritional interventions. During the scientific sessions, the doctors and dietitians addressed the medical and nutritional requirements of varied clinical conditions. The conference highlighted the current Scientific Trends, Nutrition Care Process, Nutrition Focused Physical Examinations (NFPE), and Nutrition Assessment -Identifying Malnutrition.

Dr. Bhuvaneshwari Shankar, Organizing Chairperson, AICNU, said, "In today's fast paced world, Dietetics is no longer dictated by just meal planning, administration and nutritional recuperation.It is much more- addressing dynamic assessment and timely intervening to minimise complications, sepsis and reduce the average length of hospital stay."

She added, "At Apollo Hospitals, we also trust in combining Evidence- based care with our signature Tender Loving Care. Dietetics team in the clinical settings works toward improving the patient specific nutrition and outcome. It is very important for all practicing dietitians to constantly upgrade their knowledge on the latest trends in clinical nutrition and practice evidence based nutrition".

International speakers from USA, UAE, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka addressed the sessions and presented. Around 700 delegates, who attended the conference, shared and imbibed the knowledge from the stalwarts and peers in the field.
