DGCA Medical Examination Guidelines

Apollo Hospitals, Chennai has been authorized by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Government of India, as a Centre for Class I Medical Examination for initial issue; Class II Medical Examination and Class I Renewal of Commercial Pilot License. This Examination will be conducted at the APHC Block, Annex of Apollo Hospitals Chennai, a state of the art and modern out-patient facility, under the care of DGCA approved medical expert and efficient and caring staff.

Test contents

The test contents in the medical examination packages are as per the advice of DGCA only. If required additional tests have to be done as per their protocol.

Additional tests

  • Additional tests may be required for some candidates, if clinically indicated.
  • Payment – Self
  • Cost of additional test – Actual cost (Will be displayed / provided at the venue of the checkup)

Duration of the Check up

  • Minimum two working days.
  • Stay may be prolonged due to additional test, if indicated.


All the results will be conveyed to the President, Medical Board appointed by the DGCA for final approval and sent to DGCA, New Delhi. The medical assessment will be issued by Director – Medical Services (Civil Aviation) DGCA, New Delhi.

Request for Appointment

  • Appointments must be fixed only by written communication through email.
  • Any other mode of fixing appointments will not be valid.
  • Candidates should strictly follow the appointment schedule; no changes will be made without prior intimation by DGCA. Appointments will be based on first come first served basis. No priority will be given to any candidate.

Documents needed

Candidate should be in possession of the following while reporting for the health check:

  • Appointment confirmation schedule (E-Mail printout) received from Apollo.
  • Recent Passport Size Photo – 6 (six) nos.
  • Proof of the age and identity – Any one of the following:
    • Driving License
    • Passport
    • Voter ID card
    • PAN Card

Please carry original and two photo copies of the same. One of the above mentioned proof is a must for identification. Proof of identification must have the photo of the candidate. Apart from the above list, the other list of documents specific to the category of medical check (Initial/renewal) will be sent via email.


  • Payment for the medical check shall be made by cash/card by the candidate to Apollo Hospitals on the day of the check-up
  • Candidates should bring a receipt of Rs. 3000/- as license fee paid in the portal -
